Guyabano Pudding

Guyabano is in season!!!

Guyabano is what Filipinos call soursop. A really nutritious fruit, believed to be anti-cancer. It can be tart but if you pick it fresh from the tree you could hit the jackpot and have it turn out sweet. Here’s a recipe for the majority of us who do not have a guyabano tree. It is adapted from a well-loved Pinoy recipe and adjusted for raw vegans. I hope you try it and let me know how you like it!

Lagkitan is a banana variety that is small and much sweeter than a regular grocery banana.

Ingredients:

2 cups deseeded guyabano flesh
1 cup homemade pumpkin seed mylk or pili nut mylk
4 frozen lagkitan bananas
1-2 tablespoons Grade B maple syrup, depending on how sweet your guyabano is
3 tablespoons LiyfBiotic

Instructions:

2 cups guyabano flesh, deseeded

1 cup homemade pili nut mylk

Blend!

Vitamix love!

Enjoy!

Come to a raw vegan potluck on December 16, 3pm in Pasay City! Let's talk recipes :) Ripe fruit and other raw vegan dishes are welcome. Intermediates/experts are bringing raw vegan Italian dishes.

Alabango smoothie

Kamusta? Here's a smoothie recipe that uses Indian mangoes. I call the recipe Alabango (pronounced Alabang-go) smoothie because the mangoes are sourced from Alabang, Muntinlupa. Their variety is called Indian mango though. These mangoes are soo good, our dog Vaughn (rest in pup-peace) and some of our other pets love to eat them.

These mangoes are green but a few of them are ripe. The texture and smell will clue you in as to their ripeness.

Ingredients:

2 ripe Indian mangoes (I know non-Pinoys will find it weird that I included the word ripe, but it's a must because lots of Pinoy looooove unripe Indian mangoes)

1 papaya

2 bananas

the juice of 3 calamansi

1 coconut (juice and white flesh)

1 sprig basil

a few edible flowers for garnish

Instructions:

1. Blend in a high speed blender.

2. Pout into glasses and garnish with edible flowers

Raw Food Prep Class : On the Road to Raw

Hey hey hey! Good news! For those who missed On the Road to Raw last weekend, there is a repeat tomorrow, Saturday, April 9th! Yay!

I really enjoyed the langka-luya smoothie which can be made into an ice cream (what a hit!). There were so many other memorable dishes, such as the Thai-inspired papaya rice! Yumsters!

Hehe! The group didn't bother to wipe the insides of the bowl for presentation purposes, but you know what, it didn't matter! It was soooo good! And I have to commend them for non-soy version they made for me which is in the little wooden bowl. Instead of Bragg liquid aminos, they used honey.

This is a workshop, so bring your own apron and knife :D Send your helper if you're not the type who likes to get her hands dirty. But really, you are missing out if you don't prepare your own food, and more prone to quit raw if you are dependent on someone else to do this (Unless your name is Demi Moore and you have your own raw food chef!)

If this is your first time to attend a raw food seminar, don't worry about getting hungry! You will feel full after attending. I promise!

They ran out of kelp last time too, so if you are curious about trying kelp noodles - buy them as soon as you walk in the door!

*Disclosure: Asha is one of my contacts in the raw world. I got a discount in the last workshop but only because I don't eat tomatoes and soy - and some of the dishes had these. I don't get discounts for buying any of her other stuff :D I pay full price for my kelp, which I eagerly await!
